Beyond the Backyard: 
an herbal field program exploring the botanical 
bounty of the Klamath-Siskiyou bioregion
The Klamath-Siskiyou bioregion of Southern Oregon and Northern California hosts the second highest concentration of botanical species in the continental US.  

Join Lauren Kemple and other local herbalists and plant enthusiasts for a journey of deepening your relationship with this unique place and its plant inhabitants.  

We will:
  • learn plant identification
  • study materia medica (traditional uses of herbs)
  • explore other ethnobotanical uses of plants for food and craft
  • field journal
  • work with plants energetically
  • have solo time deepening plant connections
  • practice herbal product making
  • recharge our spirits by being together in nature
  • get to know beautiful places



This program is for you if:
  • You long for a deeper connection with the land
  • You want experiential practice identifying and harvesting plants
  • You want hands on guidance making your own herbal products
  • You long for more connections with like minded people
  • You are passionate about ecological, community, and personal wellness
  • You have the physical ability to hike 1-3 miles
  • You are comfortable camping (3 of 6 field trips)
  • You are completely new to herbalism
  • You have experience with herbalism and want to refresh your knowledge or spend time in nature

$750 for entire program
OR $180 per weekend trip, $100 per day trip
